PARIS, FRANCE: The 2014 Fed Cup by BNP Paribas draw took centre stage at the ITF’s centenary AGM in Paris on Wednesday night and it was the new Wimbledon champion Marion Bartoli who stole the show.
The French No. 1 was in sparkling form and was on hand to help pull out the names for the 2014 World Group draw.
The match-up on everyone’s lips is the clash between USA and Italy in the World Group first round, which could feature a host of top names and is a repeat of the 2009 and 2010 finals.
Russia, who will be contesting the 2013 final in Sardinia in November, have been handed a tricky first round tie away to Australia.
Slovak Republic host Germany, while Czech Republic have been given a first round tie away to Spain.
In World Group II, Serbia must travel to Canada, Sweden host Poland, France face a home tie against Switzerland and Argentina take on Japan on Argentine soil.
